If you're craving space to breathe, reset, and remember who you are beyond the noise, and you're ready to listen deeply to what arises inside, then join us for this five-day soulful retreat in nature, where movement, ritual, and deep presence will gently guide you back to your essence!

As you step into the lush green heart of the Colombian mountains, the air feels pure on your skin, alive with birdsong and the murmur of flowing rivers. You notice how your shoulders begin to drop without effort, how your breath lengthens. It is as if the land itself has been holding its arms open for you.

You are welcomed not just with words, but with presence… honest, grounded, warm. You feel it in the way eyes meet yours, in the unhurried rhythm of each moment. Everything here invites you to slow down, to arrive, to be deeply present.

You're held in a retreat space crafted from natural materials and sacred intention by the very people who will walk beside you in the days to come. Woven textures and clean wood scents invite softness. You slip barefoot; a whisper of fine dust grounding your soles. You listen to the land. And slowly, gently, the tempo of your heart evens out and you begin to remember your own rhythm.

As the days unfold, time loses its grip and something within you begins to shift. What once felt distant inside you begins to stir and rise — not because you pushed harder, but because, for once, you stopped running. You feel a sense of belonging, as if you've returned to a kind of family — held, supported, seen.

You immerse yourself in practices that bring you back to your body and your truth, as a way to root deeper into what matters.

This isn't just a getaway. It's a homecoming. A reconnection with the clarity and aliveness that's always been inside you. You feel not only rested, but changed — more yourself than you've felt in years.

Welcome! The sacred nature has called you to transformational Colombia!

By the end of this retreat…

You will feel rooted, spacious, and alive, deeply connected to yourself, to nature, and to the quiet wisdom within you.

Through gentle embodied practices, grounding rituals, and the healing presence of wild landscapes, you've given your nervous system the reset it's been craving. Instead of pouring from an empty cup, you feel replenished, steady, and clear.

In the safety of community, with space to move, breathe, and simply be, you've remembered the freedom that comes from honoring your own rhythm without guilt. You walk barefoot on the earth, you dance without needing to perform, you express without needing to explain.

Guided by creative movement, ancestral wisdom circles, meditative hikes, and intuitive practices, you've let go of the pressure to keep up, and begun to live from presence instead.

Immersed in the element of water—whether through wild rivers, refreshing natural pools, or cleansing rituals—you've released what no longer serves you and reawakened your vitality.

And since you know now that true connection begins with you, you've learned to honor your needs while opening to others with authenticity. You feel seen, held, and understood—not only by the group, but by yourself.

Yes! It's time to return to a life guided by intuition, creativity, and intention.

This journey will ripple far beyond the retreat, transforming how you show up in your work, your relationships, and your daily life—reminding you of what truly matters.

Can you feel the peace that comes from living at your own pace, and the grounding clarity that arises when you move forward from that place?

🌿 Your sanctuary for this retreat

Welcome to Fuente Alegre, a sanctuary where nature holds you, and simplicity becomes a path to depth.

Nestled in the emerald mountains of Cocorná, a region known for its waterfalls, rivers, and unspoiled beauty just two hours from Medellín, Fuente Alegre (meaning "The Source of Joy" in Spanish) is where our journey unfolds. To reach it, you'll walk 7–10 minutes along a scenic trail, a gentle and symbolic transition from the outside world into a sacred space.

Fuente Alegre is a family-led project, lovingly created and hand-built with natural materials by your retreat facilitators, Lara and Diego. What began as a personal dream grew into a larger vision: to live in harmony with nature, raise their children in connection to the Earth, and offer a space for others to remember what truly matters.

The heart of the retreat is our open-air ceremonial and movement platform, an 80m² space with panoramic views of the mountains where you'll sit around the fire, breathe in movement, and connect with presence. Just a few steps away, the river calls. You may find yourself resting on its sun-warmed stones, feet in the water, listening to the sound of life flowing, a gentle reminder that you too can soften, surrender, and return to your natural rhythm.

Begin the day with a coffee or a garden infusion on your terrace. Curl into a hammock in the social nook with fellow travelers, or if you like the sound of water, slip away to journal on a shaded bench beside the river or cool off in our stone-lined plunge pool.

Your room is simple, elegant, and cozy, built from the land itself in earth and bamboo. Woven textures, soft lighting, and the scent of fresh flowers invite you to inhale… and exhale. From your bed, you might spot tiny monkeys slipping through the trees. Comfortable mattresses, soft linens, and fresh, intentional touches make the space feel warm and human.

Start your day with an invigorating cold rinse or end it with a warm flow, choosing what your body most craves. Plant-based soaps add a gentle, earthy scent, keeping you close to nature.

At Fuente Alegre, food isn't just nourishment, it's part of the whole journey.

Our cuisine is fresh, plant-based, and mostly vegetarian, designed to support your retreat experience with vitality and balance. We prioritize light, wholesome meals that leave you energized rather than heavy, while remaining flexible to your needs — vegan, gluten-free, or other requests are always welcome. Occasionally, we include eggs or local fish, depending on the group and the season, but the essence of our table is colorful, plant-rich, and nourishing.

Our chef's passion and creativity shine through in every plate. Think:

  • A vibrant Buddha bowl with roasted vegetables, quinoa, fresh herbs, and a creamy tahini dressing.
  • A tropical breakfast of papaya, pineapple, and mango with homemade granola and yogurt.
  • Hearty Colombian ajiaco, a comforting potato and corn stew adapted with fresh garden herbs.
  • Crisp green salads topped with edible flowers and seeds, drizzled in citrus dressings.
  • Golden roasted plantains served with spiced lentils and coconut rice.

Whenever possible, ingredients are locally sourced: fresh vegetables and herbs from our own garden, tropical fruits that grow just steps from your room, and flavors that follow the rhythm of the seasons.

Every day you'll also enjoy soothing herbal infusions, hand-picked from our garden, alongside meals that are as beautiful to look at as they are to taste.

At our table, food becomes a moment of joy, care, and connection, uplifting the senses while keeping you close to the Earth.

🌿 What if…

You'll learn to honor your own needs without guilt, and return home feeling seen, not just by others but by yourself.

With space to slow down and feel, you'll hear your inner voice again, and begin to trust its wisdom.

You'll gently open to new clarity about your path, held by nature and ritual, without forcing answers to appear.

In a safe and sacred space, you'll explore spirituality that feels real and rooted, in your body, in the Earth, in shared experience.

Gentle, embodied practices will support your nervous system so you can restore your inner resources and give from a replenished place.

By the end of this retreat, you'll feel more rooted in yourself, more in tune with your intuition, and more connected to what truly nourishes you. You'll leave with simple yet powerful practices to sustain you—and the memory of having touched something real, deep, and alive.

🌿What Others Say

I almost didn't come to the retreat — until the very last day before coming, I wasn't sure I could do it alone. But the moment I arrived, I felt like family. Lara and Diego took me by the hand and opened a world of experiences I never imagined I'd love or even try. It was a beautiful chance to challenge myself and see what truly matters. I fell in love with the sound of the river, the vibrant colors of the food, and the warmth of this place surrounded by water. I'll be back.

Caroline B., US

From the moment I arrived at Fuente Alegre, I felt the peace and special energy of the place wrap around me. Diego and Lara welcomed me like family, and Lara's dance therapy session was truly life-changing — deeply attuned to my process and needs. This is a place of transformation, medicine, and truth.

Fuente Alegre is a sanctuary where nature itself heals you. Immersing in the rivers and waterfalls, with guidance and support, brought me renewal and peace like never before — and this was my first retreat ever. Diego's calm presence and deep connection to the land made the experience deeply grounding and unforgettable. And Lara's sweetness, attentive listening, and gentle guidance brought resilience into me and a newfound clarity I will carry forward.

🌿 Why Colombia?

Colombia is a land where the soul remembers.

It holds a wild, untamed beauty — rivers that sing, mountains that breathe, forests that feel alive. But more than that, it holds a deep ancestral memory. In many regions, Indigenous communities still live in connection to the land, preserving rituals, stories, and ways of being that remind us what it means to live with reverence. And for them, nature is not a backdrop. It's a teacher. A guide. A mirror.

Yes, Colombia has lived through a painful history — one marked by conflict and complexity. But that's also what makes it so powerful. This is a land that knows transformation. That holds grief and joy in the same breath. That has endured, adapted, and come back with resilience and heart.

And in that, there's an invitation for us — to come into our own healing. To remember that light can grow through cracks. That we, too, can reclaim what's sacred.

We chose Cocorná, in particular, because it embodies this harmony. It's a peaceful and welcoming place — safe, rooted, alive with natural beauty. And if it weren't, we wouldn't have chosen to raise our family and build our home here.

🌿Trip Leaders

Lara Grofils

Lara —somatic movement guide and dance therapist.

Hi, I'm Lara. I grew up in the quiet countryside of Belgium and later chased city pace and big degrees (Business Engineering). On paper, I was "doing well." Inside, I was lost. After a traumatic assault when I was young—and later postpartum depression after a difficult birth—my body felt like a stranger to me.

What brought me back was movement, not performance, but medicine. Through somatic practices, breath, and simple, honest motion, I learned to listen again. I came to understand that my body isn't separate from nature; my body is nature. When I finally honored that truth, the edges softened and clarity returned. Dance, my first language since I was three, became my medicine, alongside meditation and yoga, and journaling became my mirror. Little by little, I'm learning to listen more deeply: Who am I beneath what happened to me? Where do I come from, and where do I choose to go?

With my partner, Diego, I moved to Colombia to live closer to the land. We built our home—and then our retreat center—by hand, with earth and bamboo, and we're raising our children in a way that matches our values: simple, present, nature-rooted. We also learn regularly with indigenous elders here in Colombia, whose guidance helps us bridge ancestral wisdom with everyday life, especially when things feel hard.

My work is gentle and deep. I use somatic and expressive movement, breath, touchpoints of nervous system regulation, and guided journaling to help you feel again, safely. Most of what I share happens in relationship with nature: we attune senses, let the body remember it is nature, and move in ways that allow truth to surface without forcing it. I hold a clear, trauma-aware space where you don't have to perform or push. Just meet yourself, honestly.

If you're longing to feel at home in your body, to hear your intuition without the noise, and to walk forward with more softness and strength, come. Let the land steady you. Let your body speak. And let your own words—on the page, in movement, in breath—show you the way back.

This work isn't about fixing you. It's about remembering you, through your body, with nature as a mirror..

Diego Colot Duque

Half Colombian, half Belgian, I grew up in the quiet fields of Belgium, where my first teachers were wind, wood, and water. At ten, my family moved to Spain and cracked my world open to different ways of living. Years later, on a backpacking trip in Australia, I met a spiritual guide who introduced me to meditation and ancestral medicines. That encounter changed my compass. It pointed me toward a life rooted in nature, simplicity, and spirit—and eventually toward Colombia.

In Colombia I apprenticed myself to the land and to elders who carry living traditions. Their teachings were not concepts but practices—how to listen, how to sit with the fire, how to enter the river with respect. About a decade ago, when I felt most disconnected from myself and the speed of society, these practices—along with clean food, silence, and prayer—brought me back. Becoming a father deepened the lesson: to be steady inside, so the people you love can rest against you.

By trade I'm a woodworker. With my hands I shape spaces meant for slowness and truth. Together with Lara, I built our retreat center with bamboo, earth, and intention. It's a place where you can hear your own life again.

What I offer on retreat is simple and elemental:

  • Nature as medicine. River immersions, cold-water practice, and time with the forest to settle your nervous system and clear the noise.
  • Ritual with respect. Teachings I've received from Colombian elders shared with humility—never as spectacle, always as bridge.
  • Presence. A calm, grounded container so you can soften, feel, and choose what's real for you.
  • Crafted space. Environments built by hand to hold you—open-air, fire-lit, and honest.

If you feel overextended, unsure, or far from yourself, I won't ask you to perform or force a breakthrough. We'll go to the elements. We'll breathe. We'll let the river do what rivers do—strip away what you don't need and return you to what you do.

If you're ready, I'll meet you by the water.

If this resonates with your heart and spirit, it's time to say YES and join us for a transformational journey!

🌿 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In which language is the retreat?2025-08-26T13:33:32-05:00

All group activities are in English. A basic level of understanding is enough — the language we truly speak is the body, nature, and presence.

Both facilitators also speak French and Spanish, so light translation can be offered if needed — but the retreat won’t be fully translated.

What is the itinerary?2025-08-26T13:33:13-05:00

We always provide a general overview of the program, leaving the details to be decided and experienced as the journey unfolds. Your trip leaders teach from life Itself, as it guides them, and that is always happening in the moment!

Depending on the group’s energy, the itinerary may shift in any direction. Please trust that magic will happen and that we have a wonderful journey planned for you. We look forward to a most exciting adventure together!

As a general flow, we’ll come together twice a day for guided sessions and meaningful group connection. In between, you’ll immerse yourself in a variety of experiences — from nature-based practices to creative and restorative activities. Most meals will be enjoyed at the retreat center, with occasional excursions and special gatherings woven in to enrich the journey.

How do I get there?2025-08-26T13:34:34-05:00

We’ll meet at Medellín airport (José María Córdova International Airport) on the first day of the retreat. From there, you’ll be guided step-by-step to reach the retreat center. Private group transport is arranged for the group at specific meeting times (arrive at the airport before 3 p.m).

How do I book flights?2025-08-26T13:35:10-05:00

You’ll find soft sheets, fresh towels, and organic soap provided.

Only the River Cabin has a mosquito net, as it is closer to the water. That said, we’re lucky to be in an area with very few mosquitoes, so nets aren’t typically necessary in the other rooms. Still, if you feel more comfortable with one, feel free to bring your own.

Are alcoholic drinks allowed?2025-08-26T13:38:11-05:00

No — this is a substance-free retreat. We invite you to experience the clarity and connection that come with a clear body and mind.

Is there Wi-Fi?2025-08-26T13:39:14-05:00

There is limited or no Wi-Fi at the retreat center — and that’s intentional. This is a time to unplug, reconnect with yourself, and fully immerse in the experience.

That said, we understand if you need to stay connected for important matters. If that’s the case, we suggest booking the River Cabin, which has a good Wi-Fi connection.

Also, Tigo, Claro, (Movistar) mobile networks generally have reliable signals on-site.

Is this retreat for me?2025-08-26T13:41:49-05:00

YES – especially if you’re a soul-seeker craving deep reconnection with yourself, nature, and your life’s true rhythm.

How can I take time for this?2025-08-26T13:44:30-05:00

You’re already doing and giving so much! But neglecting your own restoration can slowly drain your joy, energy, and clarity—until burnout feels inevitable. That’s exactly why you need this time to pause, breathe, and fill yourself back up.
